The Roots of Greek-Arabic Medicine

Practiced primarily in the Middle East, the origin of what is known as Greek-Arabic medicine lies in the Greek medicine of Dioscorides and Galen and grew exponentially during the rise of the Persian Empire between the 7th and 13th centuries, where intellectualism, spiritualism, politics and science all were cultivated and forwarded by its society. For example, as early as the 9th century, pharmacy became a distinctly independent discipline, according to Sprunk-Jansen.

Greek-Arabic medicine is similar to that of other classic vitalistic modalities of medicine such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which speaks of wind, heat, meridians and qi. In the Greek-Arabic modality, practitioners and pharmacists work with the four fluids of life-heat, cold, moisture and dryness.

“Although its roots and practice are ancient, [we have] spent several years delving through research, both modern and historical, to provide a basis for formulation of products that have modern relevance, and thus, wide appeal,” the company says.

It is hard to report exactly which products are more popular, as these are formulated for specific conditions.
